Q:Is this your first time going to a hacking or Information Security event?

A: Yes! This is my very first conference in general. Not only that, but this will be my first time traveling alone so I am very excited.

Q: What are you most looking forward to at Diana Initiative? What about in Las Vegas?

A: I don’t know much about the Diana Initiative, but it seems like an awesome program that has a strong motivation to help people in the IT field. I love that. So, I’m really traveling to Las Vegas with an open mind and looking forward to a great time!

Q: What is the thing you are most hoping to go home with, a memory, an experience, a new skill, knowledge around a specific topic?

A: Honestly, I want to look back in 20 years and be proud of myself for all the risky and unique things that I did when I was 18. Memories last forever, so I am hoping to make this trip to Las Vegas a good one.

Q: What are you studying in school? How do you like it?

A: I am studying Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Information Assurance and Security. It’s not too bad so far. I’m only going into my 3rd semester of college, so most of the classes I’m taking are pre-requisites.

Q: What is your biggest topic of interests in infosec?

A: Governance, risk, and compliance.

Q: Have you ever worked at a security company, full time or intern? Where and how was that experience?

A: I currently work as a full time contractor for the Defense Health Agency Global Service Center.
So far it’s going good!

Q: What is your dream job?

A: Working in governance, risk, and compliance as a QSA.

Q: What sparked your interest in infosec?

A: I have always been intrigued with everything technology. Ever since I was young. At first, I wanted to become a penetration tester. Then, I wanted to become a security engineer. But then I figured out that I can do both as a worker in governance, risk, and compliance. So that is my dream goal and I will achieve that goal within 10 years.

We’re so excited we get to be part of your first conference go! Hopefully we end up with some people during the GRC [Networking times] to grow your network of other GRC folks!
